Teaching Certification

This guy had a teaching Certification.
Yeah, the government control over home schoolers isn't perfect. But, the mechanisms in place to monitor the public schools aren't perfect either. However, homeschoolers continue to out perform public school kids, homeschoolers do this with only a fraction of the resources available to them.

The forces of darkness(stupidity) have aligned once again against Homeschooling

"Parents do not have a constitutional right to home-school their children," Justice H. Walter Croskey wrote in a unanimous California appeals court ruling on Feb. 28.

Unfortunately, homeschooling is becoming a left vs. right issue. The leftists challenge every right that we hold. The courts have become the tool of the Left to enact their Liberal adgenda, because they can't convince the American people with their ideas.

I have attempted to contact the McCain campaign regarding this issue. He has the following statement on his web site.
"John McCain will fight for the ability of all students to have access to all schools of demonstrated excellence, including their own homes."

I am supporting the movement to amend the federal Constitution regarding parental rights in order to reign in these corrupted courts. Please consider, doing it too. You don't have to be a homeschooler to sign the petition.

Teacher's certification (what is it good for)?

Some states including California maintain the notion that many uninformed about homeschooling have. That is; to teach a child you need a Certification from some Liberal College. The evidence for homeschooling suggests that parents who don't hold even a 4 year degree perform just-as-good or better than Certified Teachers. Before I married her, my wife was on track to get a teaching certification. She aborted, because the classes where a joke. One professor did a lesson on how to make a teacher face. Oh, The complexities of staring down a disruptive child.

I've often thought that my wife knows more about teaching styles and curriculum than State employed teachers.

What about professors, teaching at the highest education institutions in the land. Do they get Teacher certifications? No. Actually, it is unlikely, but possible that the professor teaching your certification classes, doesn't himself have a teaching certification.

What is next? Should the government issue parenting certifications?
You may teach your child to talk and eat, but you better not teach him to read. For that you need to summon the power of Certification!

The War is beginning

Okay maybe that is a little overly dramatic. I have long thought that homeschoolers are in for a political battle over our right to determine the future for our children. The news coming from California today is evidence that Big government leftists in the country aren't happy with the home schooling threat to their monopoly. When politicians throw more regulation on something, they discourage it. It is a way for the government to show disapproval toward a behavior or product. Example, the more regulation they put on owning guns, the more citizens will stay away from owning them (legally).
The big government folks, believe that children MUST attend a traditional school in order to receive a valid education. This belief is contrary to the evidence.
Do not dispair, we will win this war. We have common sense on our side. Also, if you are not already a member, please consider becoming a member of the Home School Legal Defence Agency.

President's day

Just another excuse to be off from school. What are we celebrating anyway? George Washington's birthday?

Reason #7 Freedom! (Why we are Home schooling)

Home schooling affords us with many opportunities that traditional school students don't get. For example, we can take vacations during the school year. This allows us to take advantage of vacation places that would normally be over crowed in the summer. It isn't just vacations, but trips to the museums.
We can school are the pace of our life. The children can learn at their own pace without getting frustrated and left behind. If we take a day off, we can make it up later. When the kids are done with school for the day...they are DONE with school for the day. There are no mountains of homework after a hard day. There are no over stuffed book bags.
We are free from the school institutional establishment with its moral experiments.

This will be the final installment in the "Why we are Home schooling series"

First place at the Science Fair

We were surprised and excited when she won first place for first grade. In interest of full disclosure, there was only one other first grade child. Still, it was a good experience for my daughter. She had to articulate her experiment and what she learned to the judges. She did a good job!
The nice thing about Science fair now, is that the emphasis is on fun. In later years, it gets more competitive. My daughter loves science and learning about how things work.

I recommend it to anyone who is home schooling.
